Last night, Shahab Kaviani from HyperOffice, was invited on "The Mac Night Owl Live", the famous Mac technology show presented the indomitable Gene Steinberg, best selling author, radio presenter and columnist. For those who haven’t heard of the show, it is a very popular (the techbroadcasting family of sites receives a whopping 2 m visitors per month) weekly online radio show mainly for Mac users, but is a great place to get some meaningful sound bytes and advice on the technology space, from Gene and regularly featured eminent industry personalities. Although I am already well versed with the product, it was nice to hear the company's vision and direction articulated by one of its top executives. As I had anticipated, HyperOffice was quick to recognise the shortcomings of MobileMe from iPhone as an "Exchange alternative" and position itself as a superior option. In Shahab's words "MobileMe is mostly a personal information manager (PIM), and doesnt deserve to be called 'exchange for the rest of us', because it doesn’t allow sharability. HyperOffice on the other hand also allows users to synch and share contacts, calendars and tasks (including Outlook information) from their iPhone". For those who dont know already, HyperOffice is a web based suite of integrated collaboration and messaging tools accessible through iPhone's Safari web browser. It allows Iphone users access and share their business mail, calendars, contacts, tasks and documents right from their iPhone. It also allows access and sharing of Outlook information from iPhone without any need for MS Exchange. They've got a pretty comprehensive feature set (perhaps the most comprehensive in the market) - email, email hosting, document management, calendaring, intranet/extranet publishing,  task management, forums, polls, IM, Outlook integration, mobile access etc. Do check out the show! (Especially small business owners and iPhone users) You can listen to a recording here.
